Oppressing under the breaches of twine,
Silencing the power of liberating song.
Trimming back feathers, arresting flight,
Preventing the heights of full potential.
Trapped behind the rusted bars of desquamation,
Confined and discouraged, every heart.
Humanity lacked in every respect,
Sorrowful eyes of maim and scars.
But break free shall I, from the harrows of twine,
Finding a voice to sing again,
Withdrawing from the bars of wilted time,
Freeing hearts and capturing rights.
Flying once again…

There is a new creative writing competition on the theme of ‘The Future’.
The piece may follow any format, such as poetry or non-fiction, providing that it totals less than 2500 characters (not including the title or any footnotes).
All participants will have their work shared and blogs linked to, however the winner’s work will be featured and blog linked to for a fortnight.
