Evi en e:

Success is the result of perfection, hard work, learning from failure, loyalty, and persistence. -Colin Powell

Silk curtains now hang crookedly from the rail,

Draping their elegance upon the dusty floor.

A fruit basket lays beside the broken stool

Containing all but one mouldy peach.

A shattered mirror remains, fixed on the wall

Glass spilled like tears amassed around.

The cuckoo chimes beyond the silence,

Cacophony in the darkest realm.

The candlestick, now moved from position

A dusty ring lays where it stood.

Wafting from beneath the floorboards,

The horrifying stench of decay.

Matchsticks lay innocently on the table,

A tinderbox beside them to help them light.

The details of the now surreptitious scene

Never to be printed in black and white…
